The Challenges of Computational Medicine and Its Impact on Health
The combination of data science and medical information has huge potential for impact. In practice, realizing this potential is complex and challenging. In the opening lecture by Dr. Pini Akiva, CEO of the KI Research Institute, we will review some of the challenges in the field, and present examples of research that combines technology and medical information in order to influence health. At the end of the lecture, we will get to know groundbreaking developments of startup companies in the field of computational medicine.

The webinar will be moderated by Zvika Lahat, head of the startup support team at the Data Science Association of the Chamber of Engineers.

Vocalis Health develops an artificial intelligence-based platform that uses voice to evaluate an individual’s health status, allowing healthcare providers to leverage remote voice interaction through a call center or smart device to passively track millions of patients that live with a range of voice-affecting diseases, like chronic respiratory or cardiac conditions.

Profility provides technology that enables truly personalized care planning, by optimizing decisions and transitions within a healthcare ecosystem and leveraging existing knowledge about how patients will respond to a particular treatment or pathway. The advanced profiling technology that Profility offers, matches patients to clusters of near-clones, and then draws on existing data regarding how such patients reacted to treatment/care pathways.

Founded by one of the first staff members at WAZE, (Yael Elish), StuffThatWorks applies machine learning and the power of crowdsourcing to empower people with chronic conditions to transform their experience into an organized knowledge database aimed at figuring out which treatments work best.
